Day 11 Double Feature: Grimm Love directed by Martin Weisz & Cannibal directed by Marian Dora

Horror only needs to look to the news for inspiration. Real life can be as terrifying as anything created by Hollywood. Such is the case for these two movies: Grimm Love is the glossier production starring Kerri Russell, Thomas Kretschmann and Thomas Huber the latter being Cannibal a raw and visceral low budget movie. Both are based on the Rotenburg Cannibal case from Germany. Armin Meiwes posted an ad to meet someone that wants to be eaten. Bernd Jürgen Armando Brandes responds to the ad becoming his victim. It is hard to the comprehend hidden desires people harbor. To watch the story unfold takes great patience. Grimm Love is the lesser of two evils while Cannibal doesn't hold back on the gore.
Horror can take us to dark places. It can challenge our minds and stamina. These two movies might not be the best in the genre but they capture the depravity humans are capable of.
